What does the hallmark on my jewellery mean?Updated 2 days ago
A full UK hallmark is made up of several marks: the Sponsor's Mark (SDN, showing us as the maker), the Fineness Mark (the lion, showing it's sterling silver), the Millesimal Fineness Mark (925, showing the purity), the Assay Office Mark (confirming independent testing), and the Year Mark. You'll usually find it by the clasp on necklaces or on the inside band of rings. See our full hallmarking breakdown here.
